Skadden Once Again Snags Top Spot in Branding Survey

"It’s getting harder to get out front and stay there in the minds of law firm clients.

Or so it would seem from the results of research firm Acritas’ annual survey measuring the strength of U.S. law firm brands. For the fourth year in a row, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has landed at the top of the survey, but its rivals are closing in.

Jones Day, Baker & McKenzie, Kirkland & Ellis and DLA Piper round out the top five spots, respectively, according to Acritas, a U.K.-based market research firm for legal and professional services, which released its survey results on Monday. DLA Piper moved to fifth place this year, displacing Hogan Lovells, which dropped to 12th place to tie with Foley & Lardner with an index of 43 points out of 100. (Hogan Lovells remained ahead of its14th-place ranking in 2013. The firm could not be reached for comment on this year's ranking.)

Elizabeth Duffy, vice president of Acritas U.S. Inc., notes that “the gap between the leader and the next closest competitor is closing, and we see this overall as well.”..."
