Acritas has released its Sharplegal 2012 Global Elite Brand Index. The results show that for the first time, the supremacy of the ‘prestige’ law firms is under threat, as a set of ambitious firms with expanding global footprints and a client-focused strategic approach close in.
The findings form part of Acritas’ third annual ranking of the strongest global law firm brands which clearly shows that internationalisation holds the key to law firm brand strength.
Baker & McKenzie leads the Index for the third consecutive year, thanks to its wide and well-established global presence. However, it is the changes emerging beneath the top slot which offer greatest insight into the future distribution of global law firm brand strength.
The Index is based on interviews with 1,001 senior general counsel in $1billion+ revenue multinationals who ranked firms according to awareness, favorability, multi-jurisdictional deals and multi-jurisdictional litigation as part of Acritas’ 2012Sharplegal survey.
The results consistently show that these influential buyers of global legal services are favoring the firms which are structured to effectively service their international needs.
